The TL2843BD from Texas Instruments is a current-mode Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controller IC. It is designed to facilitate the implementation of off-line or DC-to-DC fixed-frequency current-mode control schemes with minimal external components.
Key electrical features include a low start-up current of less than 0.5mA, trimmed oscillator discharge current, and current mode operation up to 500kHz. The device offers automatic feed-forward compensation and latching PWM for cycle-by-cycle current limiting. It features an internally trimmed reference with undervoltage lockout (UVLO) thresholds of 8.4V (on) and 7.6V (off), and a high-current totem-pole output. The operating voltage range is from 7.6V to 30V, with a maximum duty cycle of 96% and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
This controller is suitable for switching regulators of any polarity and transformer-coupled DC/DC converters. The TL2843BD is provided in a 14-SOIC surface mount package, measuring 14-SOIC (0.154", 3.90mm Width).
It offers features such as double-pulse suppression and an output stage designed to source or sink high-peak current, making it suitable for driving N-channel MOSFETs.
