THS8200PFP

The THS8200PFP from Texas Instruments is a versatile triple 10-bit video Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) system. It is engineered to support all ATSC video formats, including 1080p, and PC graphics formats up to UXGA at 75 Hz. The device features three 11-bit DACs with integrated bi-level or tri-level sync insertion.

This video DAC system boasts a flexible 10- to 30-bit digital video input interface, supporting both YCbCr and RGB data with 4:4:4 or 4:2:2 sampling. Synchronization can be achieved via dedicated Hsync/Vsync inputs or by extracting embedded SAV and EAV codes. It offers a glueless interface to TI DVI 1.0 receivers and can convert Video-Over-DVI formats to YPbPr or RGB component formats.

Advanced video processing capabilities include programmable clip/shift/multiply functions, a digital fine-gain controller for accurate channel matching and white-balance control, and built-in interpolation filters for improved frequency characteristics. The THS8200PFP also includes a fully programmable digital color space conversion circuit and a display timing generator for various composite sync timing formats. It supports both progressive and interlaced modes, with programmable Hsync and Vsync outputs.

The device provides both digital ITU-R BT.656 output and analog component output, with software-switchable 700-mV or 1.3-V compliant DAC outputs. It operates with analog and digital voltage supplies ranging from 1.65V to 2V and 3V to 3.6V, respectively. The THS8200PFP is housed in an 80-HTQFP (12x12 mm) package and is designed for surface mount applications. It operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C.
