The Texas Instruments THS7314 is a versatile 3-channel SDTV video amplifier fabricated using Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) BiCom-III process. It operates from a single 3-V to 5-V supply and is suitable for applications requiring amplification of CVBS, S-Video, Y'P'BP'R 480i/576i, Y'U'V', or G'B'R' (R'G'B') signals.
This device incorporates integrated 5th-order Butterworth low-pass filters with an 8.5-MHz (–3dB) cutoff frequency, making it ideal as a DAC reconstruction filter or an ADC anti-aliasing filter. It offers a -1dB passband bandwidth at 7-MHz and 47dB attenuation at 27-MHz. The THS7314 provides a built-in 6dB gain and features a rail-to-rail output stage capable of driving up to two video lines (75 Ω loads).
Input biasing is versatile, supporting both AC-coupled with sync-tip clamp and DC-coupled configurations. The DC-coupled mode includes a 285-mV output level shift for full sync dynamic range. The AC-coupled modes allow for transparent sync-tip clamping for CVBS signals with sync.
The THS7314 is available in a compact SOIC-8 package, making it suitable for power-sensitive applications like USB-powered or portable video devices. Its low quiescent current of 16 mA at 3.3 V further enhances its suitability for power-conscious designs.
