The THS6182DWP from Texas Instruments is a current feedback differential line driver designed for full-rate ADSL systems. Its extremely low-power dissipation is ideal for high-density ADSL central office rack applications. The device architecture allows for lower quiescent current compared to existing line drivers while maintaining high linearity.
Key electrical specifications include a wide output swing of 44 V PP differentially into a 200-Ω differential load, a high output current of 600 mA (Typ), and a wide supply voltage range of ±5 V to ±15 V. It also features multiple power control modes, allowing for power savings based on line length requirements. The I ADJ pin offers further flexibility for user-controlled bias current, enabling stable operation down to 1.8 mA per channel.
With a low 3.2 nV/√Hz inverting current noise, the THS6182 enhances receiver sensitivity, providing better margins and reach. The device is pin-compatible with EL1503C and EL1508C. It is housed in a 20-pin HSOIC package with an exposed pad and is surface-mountable.
Applications for the THS6182DWP include full-rate ADSL systems. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
