The FIGARO TGS2603 is a MOS-type gas sensor specifically designed for the detection of odor and air contaminants. It exhibits high sensitivity to low concentrations of odorous gases such as amine-series and sulfurous odors, commonly generated from waste materials or spoiled foods. This makes it suitable for applications like air cleaners, ventilation control, deodorizer control, and air quality monitors.
The sensor utilizes a metal oxide semiconductor layer on an alumina substrate with an integrated heater. In the presence of detectable gases, its conductivity changes, allowing a simple electrical circuit to convert this change into an output signal proportional to the gas concentration. The TGS2603 operates with a heater voltage of 5.0V DC and a circuit voltage of 5.0V DC, consuming low power (Ps ≤ 15mW).
Key features include high sensitivity to food odors, long life, and low cost. The standard package for the TGS2603 is a TO-5 metal can. Its typical detection range for Ethanol is 1 to 10 ppm. The sensor is RoHS3 compliant, has an MSL of 1, and is REACH unaffected.
Important Note: Figaro strongly recommends consulting their technical staff before deploying Figaro sensors in specific applications, especially when target gases are not explicitly listed or when operating conditions vary.
