The TEA1999TK/1J from NXP Semiconductors is a member of a new generation of Synchronous Rectifier (SR) controller ICs for switched mode power supplies. It features an adaptive gate drive for maximum efficiency at any load and a typical supply current below 250 µA in no-load operation.
This controller is dedicated to synchronous rectification on the secondary side of flyback converters. It incorporates the sensing and driver stages for the SR MOSFET. The TEA1999TK/1J can generate its own supply voltage for battery charging applications with low output voltage or for applications with high-side rectification, operating in an output voltage range between 0 V and 26 V. The drain sense pin is capable of handling input voltages up to 120 V.
Fabricated in a Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) process, the TEA1999TK/1J supports USB BC, QuickCharge, and smart charging applications. It is available in an 8-HVSON package and is suitable for surface mount applications. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 150°C (TJ).
Key control features include UnderVoltage LockOut (UVLO) with active gate pull-down, and a blanking input for low and high switching frequencies. It also has an enable input for CCM operation and for disabling at start-up or shorted output.
