The TEA18362T/1 is a controller IC for low-cost Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS), specifically designed for flyback topologies. It integrates green functions to provide high efficiency at all power levels. At high power, it operates in Quasi-Resonant (QR) mode. At lower power levels, it switches to Frequency Reduction (FR) or Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM), limiting peak current to approximately 25% of the maximum. Valley switching is utilized in all operating modes.
For very low power conditions, the TEA18362T/1 enters a special burst mode, reducing opto current to a minimum for high efficiency and excellent no-load power performance. The switching and burst frequencies are kept outside the audible range. The IC also includes accurate OverPower Protection (OPP) and switches to a low-power mode if the output is shorted.
Manufactured using a high-voltage Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) process, the TEA18362T/1 combines low-voltage process advantages with high-voltage capabilities. This enables the design of low-cost, highly efficient, and reliable supplies for power requirements up to 75 W with a minimal number of external components. The supply voltage range is up to 30 V, and it features integrated high-voltage start-up and an integrated X-capacitor discharge function.
