The TDA8035HN/C1/S1J from NXP Semiconductors is a highly integrated and low-power smart card interface IC. It serves as a cost-efficient successor to previous models, offering a high level of security for contact smart cards.
Key electrical features include a wide operating voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V for the DC-to-DC converter and 1.6V to 3.6V for the interface supply. It supports smart card supplies of 5V, 3V, and 1.8V. The device provides enhanced card-side ESD protection exceeding 8 kV and features thermal and short-circuit protection on all card contacts. It also includes a supply supervisor for power on/off spike management.
Designed for easy integration, the TDA8035HN/C1/S1J offers compatibility with TDA8024 and TDA8034. It supports external clock inputs up to 26 MHz and card clock generation up to 20 MHz. The IC has very low power consumption in deep shutdown mode, drawing only 0.1 µA. It includes three protected half-duplex bidirectional buffered I/O lines.
