Key features include a 3 V or 5 V supply for the IC (VDD) and a regulated card supply voltage (VCC) of 3 V or 5 V ± 5%. It offers three protected half-duplex bidirectional buffered I/O lines to card contacts C4, C7, and C8. The device includes a DC-to-DC converter for VCC generation, powered from a 5 V ± 20% supply (VDDP). The card supply (VCC) can deliver up to 80 mA and handles current spikes up to 20 MHz, with filtered overload detection at approximately 120 mA.

 

This IC interface supports automatic activation and deactivation sequences, thermal and short-circuit protection on all card contacts, and enhanced ESD protection on the card side (>6 kV). It integrates a 26 MHz crystal oscillator and provides clock generation for cards up to 20 MHz, with synchronous frequency changes. It is compatible with ISO 7816, GSM11.11, and EMV standards.

 

The TDA8024AT/C1 is available in a 28-SOIC surface mount package and is suitable for applications such as IC card readers for banking, electronic payment, identification, and Pay TV.
