The Philips TDA8007BHL/C2 is a versatile double multiprotocol IC card interface controller designed for secure and efficient communication with IC cards. It features an 8-bit parallel interface compatible with both multiplexed and non-multiplexed memory access, providing flexibility in system design.
This controller includes a specific ISO UART with parallel access input/output, supporting automatic convention processing and variable baud rates. It manages errors at the character level for T=0 protocol and includes an extra guard time register. A FIFO buffer for 1 to 8 characters in reception mode and a parity error counter with automatic re-transmission enhance data integrity.
The TDA8007BHL/C2 supports dual VCC generation, offering selectable voltage outputs of 5V, 3V, or 1.8V with controlled rise and fall times. It also provides dual card clock generation up to 10 MHz, with options for clock stop or power-down mode. The device supports asynchronous protocols T=0 and T=1, as well as synchronous cards, and includes a 24-bit time-out counter for ATR and waiting times processing.
Designed for reliability, the TDA8007BHL/C2 incorporates current limitations for short-circuit protection on key pins and special circuitry to suppress spikes during power cycling. It is available in a surface mount package.
