TDA7377

The TDA7377 is a Class AB car radio amplifier designed by Asahi Kasei Microdevices. It is suitable for car radio applications and can operate in either a dual bridge or quad single-ended configuration. The amplifier features an exclusive fully complementary output stage structure and internally fixed gain, which contribute to high power performance with minimal external components.

Key features include high output power capabilities, with up to 2 x 35W Max. at VCC=14.4V and f=1KHz into a 4Ω load. It also provides 2 x 20W at 10% THD and 4 x 6W at 10% THD. The device incorporates a CMOS compatible stand-by function with low ICC and ensures no audible pop during stand-by operations. The internally fixed gain is 26dB for BTL configuration and 20dB for single-ended configuration. It also includes on-board clip detection for simplified gain compression and fault diagnostics for assembly and wiring errors.

The TDA7377 offers robust protection systems, including load dump voltage surge, reversed battery, output DC short circuit protection, and output AC short circuit protection. It also provides silent turn-on/off, thermal shutdown, and protection against load shorts to GND or VCC.

This amplifier is designed for absolute stability without external compensation and features a rail-to-rail output swing. Its diagnostic facility on pin 10 indicates output clipping, short circuits to Vcc or GND, thermal shutdown, and soft shorts at turn-on.
