TDA21490

The Infineon TDA21490 is a high-frequency, low-profile power stage designed for DC-DC converters, particularly for CPUs, GPUs, and high current rails. It integrates a low quiescent-current synchronous buck gate-driver IC with high-side and low-side MOSFETs in a package optimized for PCB layout and heat transfer.

Key electrical specifications include an input voltage range of 4.25 V to 16 V, a VCC/VDRV supply range of 4.25 V to 5.5 V, and an output voltage range from 0.25 V up to 5.5 V. It offers a peak output current capability of 90 A and a DC output current capability of 70 A, operating at switching frequencies up to 1.5 MHz. The device features on-chip MOSFET current sensing with temperature compensation, providing 5-mV/A accuracy.

Protection features include cycle-by-cycle over-current protection, VCC/VDRV UVLO, bootstrap capacitor under-voltage protection, phase fault detection, IC temperature reporting, and thermal shutdown. The TDA21490 also includes auto-replenishment of the bootstrap capacitor and a deep-sleep mode for power saving.

Packaged in a compact 5 mm x 6 mm x 1 mm PQFN, the TDA21490 is optimized for server applications, CPU core power delivery, and is also suitable for GPU and DDR memory designs. Its design supports higher efficiency at lower output voltages required by modern processors.
