T6816-TIQY

The T6816-TIQY from Microchip Technology is a fully protected driver designed for industrial 24-V supply and automotive applications. It controls up to 12 different loads via a 16-bit dataword, with each of the six high-side and six low-side drivers capable of handling currents up to 600 mA. The drivers are freely configurable as switches, half bridges, or H-bridges, making them suitable for various loads including DC motors, bulbs, resistors, capacitors, and inductors.

Key electrical specifications include an operating voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V for the supply, with the device capable of handling operation voltages up to 40V. The low-side drivers feature an Rds(on) of less than 1.5Ω, and high-side drivers have an Rds(on) of less than 2.0Ω. A very low quiescent current of less than 20 µA in standby mode is also a notable feature. The device communicates via a standard serial data interface (SPI).

Protection is a core aspect of the T6816-TIQY, offering guaranteed protection against short-circuit conditions, overtemperature, and undervoltage. It also provides various diagnosis functions such as shorted output, open load, overtemperature, and power supply fail detection. The IC is available in a 28-SO Power Package, suitable for surface mount applications.

Automotive qualification, including conducted interferences, EMC protection, and 2 kV ESD protection, adds value for demanding automotive applications. Daisy chaining is also possible for expanded control.
