The SZESD5Z2.5T5G is a unidirectional Zener-type ESD protection diode designed by On Semiconductor to safeguard voltage-sensitive components from electrostatic discharge and transient voltage events. It features a stand-off voltage of 2.5 V and a clamping voltage of 10.9 V, with a peak pulse current rating of 11 A (8/20 µs) and peak power dissipation up to 240 W. The device responds to transients in less than 1 ns, ensuring rapid protection.
This diode meets IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection levels of ±30 kV contact and air discharge, and IEC 61000-4-4 EFT protection of 40 A. It is also rated for ESD Class 3 (>16 kV) per the Human Body Model. With a typical capacitance of 145 pF at 1 MHz, it is suitable for high-speed signal lines.
The SZESD5Z2.5T5G is AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive applications and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. It is packaged in a small SOD-523 (SC-79) surface mount package measuring 1.20 mm x 0.80 mm with a low profile of 0.7 mm, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. The device is Pb-free, RoHS compliant, and meets MSL 1 requirements.
Typical applications include portable electronics, cellular phones, digital cameras, power supplies, and automotive electronics where board space is at a premium.
