The SZESD5Z12T5G is a unidirectional ESD protection diode from On Semiconductor, part of the ESD5Z2.5T1G series. It is designed to protect voltage-sensitive components from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and transient voltage events. The device features a stand-off voltage of 12 V and a maximum clamping voltage of 25 V, with a peak pulse current rating of 9.6 A (8/20 µs) and peak pulse power of 240 W.
This diode provides robust ESD protection with ratings of 16 kV (Human Body Model), 30 kV contact and air discharge per IEC 61000-4-2, and 40 A EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4. It has a typical capacitance of 55 pF at 1 MHz and a response time of less than 1 ns, making it suitable for high-speed data lines.
The device is housed in a compact SOD-523 (SC-79) surface mount package with body dimensions of 1.20 mm x 0.80 mm and a height of 0.7 mm. It is qualified for automotive applications (AEC-Q101) and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. The total power dissipation is 500 mW on an FR-4 board at 25°C.
The SZESD5Z12T5G is Pb-free and RoHS compliant, with a maximum reflow temperature of 260°C and MSL Level 1. It is ideal for use in cellular phones, portable devices, digital cameras, power supplies, and other portable applications where board space is at a premium.
