The SY58011UMG from Microchip Technology is a precision, high-speed, fully differential 1:2 CML fanout buffer. It is optimized to provide two identical output copies with minimal skew and low phase jitter, capable of processing clock signals up to 8 GHz.
This buffer accepts differential input signals as low as 100mV and interfaces with LVPECL, LVDS, or CML signals. The outputs are 50-ohm source terminated CML outputs with a typical swing of 400mV and extremely fast rise/fall times guaranteed to be less than 60ps. The device operates from a 2.375V to 3.6V supply voltage and is guaranteed over the full industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
The SY58011UMG is available in a 16-pin (3mm x 3mm) QFN package, also known as 16-MLF®. Its robust design makes it suitable for applications such as SONET and GigE clock distribution, Fibre Channel clock and data distribution, and backplanes.
Key electrical specifications include a maximum clock frequency of 8 GHz, typical phase jitter of 49fs RMS, maximum channel-to-channel skew of 15ps, and a maximum propagation delay of 250ps. The input termination architecture is unique, allowing for DC-coupled and AC-coupled differential inputs without external termination resistors.
