The STW81200TR is a dual architecture frequency synthesizer (Fractional-N and Integer-N) from STMicroelectronics, designed for wideband RF applications. It features three low phase-noise VCOs with a fundamental frequency range of 3.0 GHz to 6.0 GHz and a programmable dual RF output divider stage, allowing coverage from 46.875 MHz to 6 GHz. This device optimizes size and cost with integrated low-noise LDO voltage regulators and internally-matched broadband RF outputs.
Key electrical specifications include an output frequency range of 46.875 to 6000 MHz, a normalized in-band phase noise floor of -227 dBc/Hz, and VCO phase noise of -135 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset with a 4.0 GHz carrier. It supports a maximum phase detector frequency of 100 MHz and a differential reference clock input up to 800 MHz. The supply voltage range is from 3.0 V to 5.4 V, offering flexibility in power management. The device operates with logic compatibility/tolerance of 1.8 V/3.3 V and is manufactured using a BICMOS 0.25 µm SiGe process.
The STW81200TR is housed in a compact VFQFPN36 package measuring 6 x 6 x 1.0 mm. It is suitable for applications such as cellular/4G infrastructure equipment, instrumentation and test equipment, cable TV, and other wireless communication systems.
