The STLVDS385BTR from STMicroelectronics is a 24-bit programmable LVDS transmitter designed for flat panel display (FPD) link applications. It converts 28 bits of LVCMOS/LVTTL data into four LVDS data streams, transmitting a phase-locked clock in parallel over a fifth LVDS link. This device supports clock frequencies from 20 to 85 MHz, with a maximum throughput of 2.38 Gbps and a bandwidth of 297.5 Mbytes/sec at 85 MHz. It features best-in-class set and hold times on Tx inputs and low power consumption, with a typical Tx power consumption of less than 130 mW at 85 MHz grayscale and a power-down mode consuming less than 200 µW.
The STLVDS385BTR supports various display resolutions including VGA, SVGA, XGA, and single/dual pixel SXGA. It utilizes 345 mV (typ) swing LVDS devices for low EMI and is compatible with the TIA/EIA-644 LVDS standard. The transmitter can be programmed for rising or falling edge strobe operation, allowing interoperability with receivers without translation logic. The PLL requires no external components.
Packaged in a 56-TSSOP, the STLVDS385BTR is designed for surface mount applications. It operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C and a voltage range of 3V to 3.6V. The narrow bus design helps reduce cable size and cost, making it suitable for integration into display systems where space and efficiency are critical.
