SS38 Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The SS38 is a Schottky rectifier diode from ON Semiconductor, part of the SS32-S310 series. It is designed for high-efficiency, low power loss applications such as free wheeling, secondary rectification, and reverse polarity protection. The device uses metal-to-silicon rectifier technology with majority carrier conduction, resulting in a low forward voltage drop of 850 mV maximum at 3A forward current. It is rated for a maximum repetitive reverse voltage of 80V and an average forward current of 3A. The SS38 can handle non-repetitive peak forward surge currents up to 100A (8.3 ms half-sine wave) and has a maximum voltage rate of change of 10000 V/µs. The diode is surface mount in a SMC (DO-214AB) package, which offers easy pick and place assembly. Thermal characteristics include a maximum power dissipation of 2.27W, junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of 55°C/W (on specified PCB), and junction-to-lead thermal resistance of 17°C/W. The operating junction temperature range is -55°C to +150°C. The SS38 is Pb-Free and Halide Free, and is supplied in tape and reel packaging with 3000 pieces per reel.
