The SS34FA is a 40V, 3A Schottky barrier rectifier diode from On Semiconductor. It offers a low forward voltage drop of 500 mV at 3A, reducing power loss in high-efficiency designs. The device is rated for a repetitive peak reverse voltage of 40V and an average rectified forward current of 3A.
The diode provides a high surge current capability of 80A for 8.3 ms single half sine-wave, making it robust for start-up and fault conditions. Typical reverse leakage current is 0.5 mA at 25°C and 60 mA at 125°C. The junction capacitance is 152 pF at 4V and 1 MHz, and the reverse recovery time is 12 ns. Thermal resistance is 16°C/W junction-to-lead and 152°C/W junction-to-ambient. The operating junction temperature range is -55°C to +125°C.
The SS34FA is offered in a surface mount SOD-123FA package (also referenced as SOD-123FL in the datasheet). It is RoHS compliant, Pb-free, and MSL 1. The device is suitable for automated assembly with tape and reel packaging (standard quantity 3000 pcs).
Applications include power supply output rectification, DC-DC converter freewheeling diodes, reverse polarity protection, and low voltage switching circuits. The NRVB prefix variant is available for automotive applications requiring AEC-Q101 qualification.
