The SS34 is a Schottky rectifier diode from On Semiconductor, part of the SS32-S310 series. It is designed for high-efficiency, low power loss applications. Key electrical specifications include a maximum repetitive reverse voltage of 40V, an average forward current of 3A at TA=75°C, and a low forward voltage drop of 500 mV at 3A. The device can handle non-repetitive peak forward surge currents up to 100A (8.3 ms single half-sine wave) and has a maximum voltage rate of change of 10000 V/µs.
Typical applications include freewheeling diodes, secondary rectification in power supplies, and reverse polarity protection. The SS34 is housed in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package, which offers easy pick and place assembly. It is supplied in tape and reel packaging with a standard quantity of 3000 pieces.
The device is Pb-Free and Halide Free, and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. Thermal characteristics include a power dissipation of 2.27W and a junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of 55°C/W (when mounted on an FE-4 PCB).
