The SS33 is a Schottky rectifier diode from On Semiconductor, rated for a maximum repetitive reverse voltage of 30 V and an average forward current of 3 A at 75°C. It features a low forward voltage drop of 500 mV at 3 A, enabling high efficiency in low-voltage applications. The device can handle non-repetitive peak forward surge currents up to 100 A (8.3 ms half-sine wave), making it robust for transient conditions.
The rectifier is packaged in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface mount case, designed for easy pick-and-place assembly. Thermal characteristics include a maximum power dissipation of 2.27 W, junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of 55°C/W (on FE-4 PCB), and junction-to-lead thermal resistance of 17°C/W. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. The device is Pb-Free and Halide Free, suitable for environmentally conscious designs.
Typical applications include free wheeling diodes, secondary rectification in power supplies, and reverse polarity protection. The Schottky technology ensures majority carrier conduction, resulting in fast switching with negligible reverse recovery time (≤500 ns).
