SN75ALS194D

The SN75ALS194D from Texas Instruments is a quad differential line driver supporting RS422 and RS485 standards. It is engineered to transmit data over twisted-pair or parallel transmission lines, meeting or exceeding ANSI Standard EIA/TIA-422-B and ITU Recommendation V.11 requirements.

This driver operates at signaling rates up to 20 Mbps and utilizes 5V single-supply operation. It features 3-state, TTL-compatible outputs and high output impedance in power-off conditions. The device is designed with advanced low-power Schottky technology for high speed without compromising power consumption, offering a typical standby supply current of 26mA.

Key electrical characteristics include a common-mode range of -3V to 3V and fault protection from -12V to 12V. The driver circuitry can be enabled in pairs via independent active-high enable inputs. Input current is kept low, with less than 1µA at a high logic level and less than 100µA at a low logic level.

The SN75ALS194D is specified for operation within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. It is supplied in a 16-pin SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting. This component is an improved version of the MC3487 and is designed to work with the SN75ALS195 quad line receiver.
