The SN75174N from Texas Instruments is a monolithic quadruple differential line driver with 3-state outputs, designed to meet ANSI Standards EIA/TIA-422-B and RS-485. It is optimized for balanced multipoint bus transmission at rates up to 4 megabaud.
This driver IC supports RS-422 and RS-485 protocols and operates with a supply voltage range of 4.75V to 5.25V. It features a wide common-mode output voltage range of -7V to 12V, making it suitable for party-line applications in noisy environments. The device includes positive- and negative-current limiting and thermal shutdown protection.
Packaged in a 16-PDIP through-hole configuration, the SN75174N has an operating temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. It is functionally interchangeable with the MC3487 and designed for multipoint transmission on long bus lines in demanding conditions.
