The SN74HCT645N from Texas Instruments is an octal bus transceiver designed for asynchronous two-way communication between data buses. This device can transmit data from the A bus to the B bus or vice versa, controlled by the direction-control (DIR) input. The output-enable (OE) input allows for disabling the device, effectively isolating the buses.
Key electrical characteristics include an operating voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, high-current 3-state outputs capable of driving up to 15 LSTTL loads, and a low power consumption of 80 µA maximum ICC. The typical propagation delay is 14 ns, and it offers ±6 mA output drive at 5V. Input current is a low 1 µA maximum, and inputs are TTL-voltage compatible.
This transceiver is housed in a 20-PDIP package and supports through-hole mounting. Its design makes it suitable for applications requiring bidirectional data transfer between different data buses, with the ability to isolate buses when needed.
Applications include general-purpose data bus interfacing, memory addressing, and signal routing in digital systems. The non-inverting logic type ensures direct signal transfer.
