SN74AC533N Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The SN74AC533N from Texas Instruments is an octal transparent D-type latch featuring 3-state outputs. This integrated circuit is designed for applications requiring temporary data storage and bus interfacing. When the latch-enable (LE) input is high, the Q outputs follow the complements of the data (D) inputs. When LE is low, the Q outputs are latched at the inverse logic levels set up at the D inputs.

The device offers a wide operating voltage range of 2V to 6V and operates at temperatures from -40°C to 85°C. Its tri-state output capability allows it to drive bus lines directly without the need for interface or pullup components. The output-enable (OE) input can place the eight outputs in a normal logic state or a high-impedance state, which does not significantly load or drive bus lines. This feature allows data to be retained or new data entered even when outputs are in the high-impedance state.

With a typical propagation delay of 8ns at 5V and 50pF, and a clock frequency up to 155 MHz, the SN74AC533N is suitable for high-speed logic circuits. It has a current output drive of 24mA for both high and low states and a low quiescent current of 4µA. The component is supplied in a 20-pin Dual In-line Package (PDIP) with a 0.300-inch (7.62mm) width, designed for through-hole mounting.
