The SN75176B / SN65176B is a high-speed differential TRI-STATE bus/line transceiver designed to meet the requirements of EIA standard RS485 with an extended common mode range. It is also compatible with RS-422.

This transceiver features a single +5V supply and operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 105°C. The driver and receiver outputs have TRI-STATE capability. The device meets EIA Standard RS485 for Multipoint Bus Transmission and is compatible with RS-422.

Available in an 8-SOIC package, the SN65176BDR is suitable for applications requiring reliable differential data transmission. Its design includes thermal shutdown protection and high impedance to the bus with the driver in TRI-STATE or with power off, allowing unused devices on the bus to be powered down.

The transceiver supports a bus common mode range of -7V to +12V, permitting a ±7V ground difference between devices on the bus. It offers 22 ns driver propagation delays and 70 mV typical receiver hysteresis.
