The SMLJ100CA is a bidirectional TVS diode from Bourns, part of the SMLJ series. It provides surge protection with a peak pulse power dissipation of 3000W (1 ms pulse). The maximum clamping voltage is 162V at a peak pulse current of 18.6A. The device also features a peak forward surge current rating of 300A (8.3 ms half sine wave) and steady state power dissipation of 5W at lead temperature 75°C.
The diode is housed in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package with gull wing terminations, suitable for standard pick-and-place assembly. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. The bidirectional design allows protection of both polarities with a single component.
Applications include IEC 61000-4-5 surge protection, as well as use in portable communications, computing, and video equipment. The SMLJ100CA is RoHS compliant and carries a California Proposition 65 warning for cancer and reproductive harm.
