The SMDJ8.0A is a 3000W transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from Littelfuse Inc., designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It is a unidirectional device with a reverse standoff voltage of 8V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 8.89V. The maximum clamping voltage is 13.6V at a peak pulse current of 220.6A under a 10/1000µs waveform.
This TVS diode offers fast response time of less than 1ps and is capable of handling ESD protection up to 30kV (air and contact) per IEC 61000-4-2. It is suitable for general purpose applications such as I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.
The device is housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface mount package, with a supplier device package of DO-214AB (SMCJ). It supports a wide operating temperature range from -65°C to 150°C and has a peak forward surge current rating of 300A (8.3ms). The terminal finish is matte tin lead-free plated, and the component is halogen free and lead-free compliant.
