The Littelfuse SMDJ7.0CA is a bidirectional TVS diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It delivers 3000W peak pulse power dissipation for a 10/1000µs waveform, with a reverse standoff voltage of 7V and a maximum clamping voltage of 12V at 250A peak pulse current.
Key electrical characteristics include a minimum breakdown voltage of 7.78V, an ultra-fast response time of less than 1 picosecond, and ESD protection of 30kV air and 30kV contact per IEC 61000-4-2. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -65°C to 150°C and has a storage temperature range of -65°C to 175°C.
The diode is housed in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package with matte tin lead-free termination. It is suitable for general purpose applications including I/O interfaces, VCC bus protection, and vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronic equipment.
