The SMDJ15A is a 3000W peak pulse power TVS diode from Littelfuse Inc. designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 15V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 16.7V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 24.4V at a peak pulse current of 123A (10/1000µs waveform).
This unidirectional device offers a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage. It is rated for operating junction temperatures from -65°C to 150°C and storage temperatures up to 175°C. The SMDJ15A is ideal for general purpose applications including I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.
The component is housed in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package with matte tin lead-free plated terminations. It supports a peak forward surge current of 300A (8.3ms) and has a typical reverse leakage current of less than 2µA. Thermal characteristics include a junction-to-lead thermal resistance of 15°C/W and junction-to-ambient of 75°C/W.
