The SMDA15 from SMC Diode Solutions is a unidirectional TVS diode array designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients. It provides protection for four independent lines with a stand-off voltage of 15 V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 16.7 V at 1 mA. The maximum clamping voltage is 24 V at 1 A, and the device can handle 300 W of peak pulse power under an 8/20 µs waveform. Maximum leakage current is 1 µA at the stand-off voltage, and typical capacitance is 140 pF at 0 V and 1 MHz.
This device is suitable for general purpose transient protection in applications such as RS-232 data lines, microprocessor-based equipment, notebooks, desktops, servers, LAN/WAN equipment, and serial/parallel ports. It offers electrically isolated protection for each channel.
The SMDA15 is housed in a surface-mount 8-SOIC package (0.154" width, 3.90 mm) with a supplier device package of 8-SO. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 125°C and can be stored at -55°C to 150°C. The lead soldering temperature is 260°C for 10 seconds. The device is lead-free and AEC-Q101 qualified (for the -A version). Standard packaging is tape and reel with 2500 pieces per reel.
