The Vishay Dale SMCJ5.0CA-E3/57T is a Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode designed for protecting sensitive electronics from voltage transients. It features a low profile SMC (DO-214AB) package suitable for automated placement.
This bidirectional TVS diode has a working voltage (VWM) of 5.0 V and a breakdown voltage (VBR) starting at 6.4 V. Its excellent clamping capability is demonstrated by a clamping voltage of 9.2 V at a peak pulse current of 163 A. The device can handle a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500 W (1.5 kW) with a 10/1000 µs waveform. It also offers a peak forward surge current rating of 200 A for an 8.3 ms single half sine-wave in unidirectional applications.
Operating across a wide temperature range from -55°C to 150°C (TJ), the SMCJ5.0CA-E3/57T is ideal for use in consumer, computer, industrial, automotive, and telecommunication applications. It provides protection against voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lighting.
The device meets MSL level 1 requirements and is available in RoHS-compliant and halogen-free configurations. Its glass passivated chip junction ensures reliability.
