The SMCJ48CA-TR is a bidirectional TVS diode from STMicroelectronics designed for general purpose transient voltage suppression. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 48V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 53.3V and maximum of 58.9V, and a clamping voltage of 100V at peak pulse current. The device can handle 1500W of peak pulse power (8/20µs waveform) and 100A peak pulse current. It is not intended for power line protection. The diode is surface mounted in a DO-214AB (SMC) package and operates over a temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. Typical applications include general purpose circuit protection where bidirectional clamping is required.
