The SMCJ45CA is a bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Littelfuse, designed for general purpose transient voltage protection. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 45V, a clamping voltage of 72.7V at 20.6A peak pulse current, and a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W (10/1000μs waveform). The device offers a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage, and ESD protection rated at 30kV air and 30kV contact per IEC 61000-4-2. Typically reverse leakage current is less than 1μA for breakdown voltages above 12V.
This TVS diode is suitable for protecting I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronic applications. It is built with a glass passivated chip junction and features low incremental surge resistance. The plastic package is flammability rated V-0 per UL 94, and the device meets MSL Level 1 per J-STD-020.
The SMCJ45CA is supplied in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package with J-bend terminations and matte tin lead finish. It is halogen free, RoHS compliant, and Pb-free E3. The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C, with thermal resistance of 15°C/W junction-to-lead and 75°C/W junction-to-ambient.
