The Littelfuse SMCJ440A is a surface-mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients. It features a 1500W peak pulse power capability at a 10/1000μs waveform and a breakdown voltage of 440V.
This TVS diode is housed in a DO-214AB (SMCJ) package, making it suitable for surface mounting applications where board space optimization is important. It offers excellent clamping capability with a low incremental surge resistance and a fast response time of typically less than 1.0ps. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 150°C.
Key electrical characteristics include a maximum clamping voltage of 713V at 2.1A and typical leakage current less than 1μA when VBR min > 12V. The device is designed to withstand transient voltages induced by lightning and other transient voltage events, making it ideal for I/O interfaces, VCC buses, and other vulnerable circuits in various electronic applications.
