The SMCJ40CA-13 is a 1500W bidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Diodes Incorporated. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from voltage transients caused by lightning, inductive load switching, and electrostatic discharge. The device features a standoff voltage of 40V and a clamping voltage of 64.5V at a peak pulse current of 100A.
With a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W (10/1000µs waveform), this TVS diode provides robust protection. It has a peak forward surge current rating of 200A (8.3ms single half sine wave). The device operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and can be stored from -55°C to +175°C.
The SMCJ40CA-13 is housed in a surface mount SMC (DO-214AB) package and is available in tape and reel packaging. It is lead-free and halogen-free, making it suitable for environmentally conscious designs. This general-purpose TVS diode is ideal for overvoltage protection in a wide range of applications.
