The SMCJ40A-E3/57T is a 1500W transient voltage suppression diode manufactured by Vishay Dale. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from voltage transients induced by lightning, inductive load switching, and electrostatic discharge. The device offers a reverse standoff voltage of 40V and a maximum clamping voltage of 64.5V at a peak pulse current of 23.3A (10/1000µs waveform).
This TVS diode is rated for a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W under 10/1000µs waveform conditions. It can handle a peak forward surge current of 200A for 8.3ms single half sine-wave (unidirectional only). The operating junction temperature range is -55°C to 150°C.
The device is supplied in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package, enabling compact PCB designs. It is suitable for general purpose transient protection applications where high surge capability and small footprint are required.
