The SMCJ400A is a 1500W unidirectional TVS diode designed by Littelfuse to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 400V and a maximum clamping voltage of 648V at a peak pulse current of 2.3A (10/1000µs waveform).
The device is housed in a DO-214AB (SMCJ) surface mount package, offering a low profile and built-in strain relief for reliable PCB assembly. It supports an operating temperature range of -55°C to 150°C and is rated for peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W. The SMCJ400A is RoHS compliant, halogen free, and has an MSL of 1 (unlimited).
Typical applications include protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. The fast response time (typically less than 1.0ps) ensures rapid clamping of transient overvoltages.
