The SMCJ36CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from Littelfuse, part of the SMCJ series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. With a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W (10/1000µs waveform), it offers excellent clamping capability and low incremental surge resistance. The device has a reverse standoff voltage of 36V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 40V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 58.1V at a peak pulse current of 25.9A. It is not intended for power line protection but is suitable for general purpose applications such as I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. The SMCJ36CA is surface mountable in a DO-214AB (SMC) package and operates over a temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. It is halogen free and lead free, with matte tin lead-free plating, and is RoHS compliant. The device meets MSL level 1 and has a fast response time of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage.
