The SMCJ250A from Littelfuse is a unidirectional TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) diode designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It offers a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W (10/1000µs waveform) with a reverse standoff voltage of 250V and a clamping voltage of 405V at 3.7A peak pulse current.
This device is ideal for protecting I/O interfaces, VCC bus lines, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics. It features a fast response time (typically less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage) and low incremental surge resistance. The SMCJ series is designed for surface mount applications to optimize board space.
Packaged in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface mount package, the SMCJ250A supports a wide operating temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. It is RoHS compliant, halogen free, and meets MSL level 1 per J-STD-020. The device is unidirectional, with a single protection channel, and is not intended for power line protection.
