The SMCJ220CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode from Littelfuse Inc., part of the SMCJ series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events.
This device features a reverse standoff voltage of 220V and a maximum clamping voltage of 356V at a peak pulse current of 4.2A (10/1000µs waveform). It can handle a peak pulse power dissipation of 1500W (1.5kW) under the same test conditions. The bidirectional configuration allows for protection of circuits where the signal can swing both positive and negative.
The SMCJ220CA is housed in a surface-mount DO-214AB (SMC) package, suitable for automated assembly. It has an operating temperature range of -55°C to 150°C.
