The SMCJ18A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppression (TVS) diode designed for general purpose circuit protection. It features a working peak reverse voltage of 18V and a maximum clamping voltage of 29.2V under a 10/1000μs waveform. With a peak pulse power rating of 1500W and a peak pulse current of 51.4A, it provides robust protection against voltage transients.
This device is based on glass passivated chip technology, offering low leakage and fast response time. It is halogen free and lead free, meeting modern environmental compliance standards. The operating temperature range spans -55°C to 150°C, suitable for demanding environments.
The SMCJ18A is housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface mount package with gull wing terminations. It is unidirectional, with a single protection channel. Thermal characteristics include a junction-to-air thermal resistance of 75°C/W and a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 15°C/W, with a maximum power dissipation of 6.5W on an infinite heat sink at TL=75°C.
