The SMC5K48A-M3/I is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode from Vishay's SMC5K series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lightning. Key electrical specifications include a reverse standoff voltage of 48V, a maximum clamping voltage of 77.4V at a peak pulse current of 64.6A (10/1000µs waveform), and a peak pulse power rating of 5000W (10/1000µs) and 40kW (8/20µs). The device features very fast response time and low incremental surge resistance.
This TVS diode is housed in a surface mount DO-214AB (SMC) package, suitable for automated assembly. The M3 suffix indicates halogen-free and RoHS-compliant construction per the datasheet.
