The SMC30J48CA is a bidirectional Zener transient voltage suppression diode from STMicroelectronics designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 48V and a maximum clamping voltage of 76.6V at a peak pulse current of 38A (10/1000μs waveform). With a peak pulse power rating of 3000W (3kW), this device can handle high-energy surges.
This TVS diode is suitable for general purpose applications where circuit protection is required. It is mounted using surface mount technology and is housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) package, which is commonly used for medium-power TVS diodes. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 175°C, allowing use in harsh environments.
The device is bidirectional, meaning it can clamp both positive and negative transients. It does not include power line protection and is intended for general purpose circuit protection. Compliance with RoHS3, REACH unaffected, and MSL level 1 (unlimited) are noted but unverified.
