The SMBJ85CA is a bidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse Inc., designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient events. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 85V and a clamping voltage of 137V at a peak pulse current of 4.4A (10/1000μs waveform). The device offers 600W peak pulse power capability and a fast response time of less than 1ps from 0V to VBR min.
This TVS diode is housed in a DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package with matte tin lead-free plating. It is halogen free and RoHS compliant, with an MSL level 1 rating. The device is suitable for general purpose applications including I/O interfaces, VCC bus, and other vulnerable circuits in telecom, computer, industrial, and consumer electronics.
The SMBJ85CA provides ESD protection up to 30kV (air and contact discharge) per IEC 61000-4-2 and EFT protection per IEC 61000-4-4. Its low profile package optimizes board space for surface mounted applications.
