The Bourns SMBJ78A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for general purpose surge and ESD protection. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 78V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 86.7V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 126V at a peak pulse current of 4.8A. The device can handle 600W of peak pulse power (10/1000µs waveform).
This TVS diode is housed in a compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package, making it suitable for automated assembly. It operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. The SMBJ series from Bourns is recognized for surge protection in portable communications, computing, and video equipment.
The SMBJ78A is RoHS compliant and REACH unaffected. It is not intended for power line protection and is designed for general purpose circuit protection applications where fast response to transient overvoltage events is required.
