The Vishay Dale SMBJ5.0CA-E3/51 is a surface mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode, also known as a TRANSZORB®. It is designed for protecting sensitive electronics against voltage transients.
This device features a 600 W peak pulse power capability with a 10/1000 μs waveform and a repetitive rate of 0.01%. It offers excellent clamping capability and a very fast response time. The working voltage ranges from 5.0 V to 188 V, with breakdown voltages from 6.4 V to 231 V for both uni-directional and bi-directional applications.
The SMBJ5.0CA-E3/51 comes in a DO-214AA (SMBJ) package, making it ideal for automated placement. The molding compound meets UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. Terminals are matte tin plated and solderable per J-STD-002. This component is suitable for use in consumer, computer, industrial, and telecommunication applications, protecting ICs, MOSFETs, and signal lines from voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lighting.
Key electrical characteristics include a nominal clamping voltage of 9.2 V at 65.2 A. The operating and storage temperature range is -55°C to 150°C (TJ).
