The Vishay Dale SMBJ5.0A-E3/52 is a surface-mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode, part of the TRANSZORB® series. It is designed to protect sensitive electronics from voltage transients induced by inductive load switching and lighting.
Key electrical characteristics include a 600W peak pulse power capability with a 10/1000 μs waveform and a working voltage range from 5V to 188V. The device features excellent clamping capability and a very fast response time, with a low incremental surge resistance. It is available in both unidirectional and bidirectional configurations.
The SMBJ5.0A-E3/52 comes in a low-profile SMB (DO-214AA) package, making it ideal for automated placement on printed circuit boards. The molding compound meets UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. Terminals are matte tin-plated and solderable per J-STD-002 and JESD 22-B102.
This component is suitable for typical applications such as protecting ICs, MOSFETs, and signal lines in consumer, computer, industrial, and telecommunication equipment. It meets MSL level 1 per J-STD-020.
