The Bourns SMBJ495A is a unidirectional transient voltage suppressor diode designed for surge and ESD protection in general purpose applications. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 495V and a clamping voltage of 760V at a peak pulse current of 800mA. The device can handle 600W of peak pulse power (10/1000µs waveform) and has a maximum forward voltage of 5.0V at 50A. It is housed in a compact DO-214AA (SMB) surface mount package, suitable for automated assembly. The operating temperature range is -55°C to 150°C. The SMBJ series is UL recognized (file E153537) and offers fast response times less than 1 picosecond for unidirectional devices. Applications include IEC 61000-4-2 ESD protection (Level 4), IEC 61000-4-4 EFT, and IEC 61000-4-5 surge protection.
